Help Shape the Future of Scholarly Publishing
As The Working Guide to Editorial Systems (WGES) continues to grow, Writer’s Camp is seeking a Senior Editor for Editorial Operations to help shape this innovative publication and support editors across the scholarly publishing community.
WGES is a practical, online resource dedicated to the systems, policies, workflows, and decision-making that underpin successful editorial offices. Published twice monthly, it serves editors, editorial board members, managing editors, publishers, and others committed to excellence in scholarly publishing.
The Senior Editor for Editorial Operations will work closely with Editor-in-Chief Leslie H. Nicoll and the Writer’s Camp editorial team to develop content, recruit authors, mentor contributors, and help guide the editorial direction of this growing publication.
This position differs from many journal editorial roles. Rather than overseeing a large volume of unsolicited submissions or extensive peer review activities, the Senior Editor will work with a curated stream of commissioned and invited content. The emphasis is on collaboration, editorial quality, mentoring contributors, and ensuring each article moves smoothly from planning to publication.
This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who enjoys collaboration, mentoring, and advancing best practices in scholarly publishing. Whether your background is in editing, publishing, editorial board service, or another area of scholarly communication, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape an innovative resource for the editorial community.
Ideal candidates will have:
- An interest in scholarly publishing and editorial excellence
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Excellent writing and editing abilities
- An interest in mentoring authors and helping develop practical editorial resources
- A collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for innovation and creativity in scholarly publishing
