The Editorial Leadership Intensive (ELI): Journal Systems and Governance is a live, cohort-based program for editors and others working in—or interested in—editorial leadership roles. The program approaches editorial work as a system, focusing on how journals function in practice and how editorial judgment is exercised within real governance structures, resource environments, and publishing contexts.
ELI: Journal System and Governance is designed for individuals who serve in—or aspire to serve in—journal editorial roles, including Editors-in-Chief/Editors, deputy and associate editors, editorial board members, and managing editors. The program also welcomes others with an interest in editorial leadership, governance, and scholarly publishing. Rather than focusing on isolated tasks or metrics, ELI: Journal Systems and Governance emphasizes editorial judgment, governance, peer review as infrastructure, and communication with authors and readers.
The course is delivered as four live, half-day (4 hour) Zoom sessions and is led by an experienced faculty of editors-in-chief, senior editors, and managing editors from across nursing publishing. Sessions combine framing presentations, real-world editorial cases, and guided discussion grounded in lived editorial experience. Registration includes a one-year subscription to The Working Guide to Editorial Systems, a $150 value.
