Writer’s Camp Bugle #15

Greetings, Campers, on this lovely May Day!

It’s that time of year for commencement, graduation, scholarly recognition, and more. To all campers who may be receiving a degree or other award, congratulations! All of us here at Writer’s Camp salute you.

Even if life is just proceeding as normal, I think we all deserve a standing ovation. So give yourself a pat on the back and say, “Good job!”

  • CAMPOREE: We have an exciting CAMPOREE scheduled for June 12 at 1 pm EDT, with Max Topaz, whose recent article on fabricated citations in the biomedical literature has caused quite a stir. I am delighted he can join us for a conversation about the problem and possible solutions. Registration is open now. As always, registration is free but you have the option to receive 2 hours of NPD credit for $20.
  • EDITOR OPPORTUNITIES: There are 2 exciting opportunities for those of you seeking an editorial role. The Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal is searching for an new Editor-in-Chief. Applications are due by June 15, 2026. Teaching and Learning in Nursing is searching for an Associate Editor. Read both postings to learn more and consider applying.
  • TRAIL PACKS: I hope you are enjoying our Trail Packs–I know I am! We have posted five since the beginning of the year and have our next one scheduled for June 4 at 7 am. After that, the schedule is open. If you have a published article that you think would make a good Trail Pack, reach out to me to discuss. I will help you with pulling the pieces together. And, if you haven’t read our Trail Packs yet, now is a good time to get started! You can receive 2 contact hours of NPD credit for each Trail Pack. Information is on the post for each one.

SUMMER OF PEER REVIEW: The Summer of Peer Review at Writer’s Camp is just around the corner. We will have a series of 14 articles on all aspects of peer review. They will start posting on June 18th and will wrap up on September 17th during Peer Review Week.

Because Peer Review is so important in the scholarly world, I decided to have a little contest. I have five (5) Summer of Peer Review refrigerator magnets to give away as prizes. To enter, see the contest form below. Entries must be received by May 31st, 2026.

As always, I welcome participation from members of our Writer’s Camp Community. Do you have an idea for an article, CAMPOREE, or Trail Pack? I am happy to work with you to make your idea a reality. Click here to send me a message and let’s chat!
