Writer’s Camp, directed by Leslie H. Nicoll, is an online resource for nurses and nursologists dedicated to writing, editing, and publishing. Combining fun with serious work, it aims to support nurse authors and editors through regular informative posts and contributions from experienced authors. Subscribers will receive updates on new content.

What is Writer’s Camp? It is an online resource for nursologists–a place focused on writing, editing, and publishing with an emphasis on success and excellence. Thank you for taking a minute to read this post and learn what I am doing here.
First off, why a camp metaphor? Well, in my experience, camp was a fun place. I went to camp as a camper and then worked as a counselor. I enjoyed learning, teaching, and being with campers. I have many happy memories of my time at camp. I wanted to create a happy, fun place in this little corner of the Internet.
With this in mind, I created Writer’s Camp, an online resource and magazine designed for nursologists. Sure, I could be staid and serious, but why? Let’s have a goal to learn about writing and at the same time, have some fun in the process. That said, if you look at the foundation of Writer’s Camp, everything is completely serious. Writing is hard work, editing can be even harder, and becoming successfully published can be the biggest hurdle of all. But there are things you do to be successful in these endeavors and that is where Writer’s Camp comes in.
Things might seem a little sparse right now as I get this project off the ground. But I have lots of ideas that I will be unveiling in the coming weeks and months.
A few things to start with, including what to expect, and what you can do.
- Expect regular posts on writing, editing, and publishing, designed primarily for nurse authors and editors. Posts will be focused, designed to convey maximum information with a minimum number of words.
- Get to know our staff of “camp counselors”–that is, authors–who will be the primary contributors to this online magazine. Other authors will always be welcome, but there will be a core group of counselors who will share knowledge, tips, and tricks. My hope is that you will become familiar with their names and look forward to their articles.
- Become a subscriber! Sign up to receive updates in your inbox every time new content is posted. Again, I have a goal of one new article every week but allow a little bit of time to reach that threshold.
In the meantime, look around and see what we have to offer. Bookmark the site and come back regularly. My goal is to make this a tremendously valuable resource. As I said, I am glad you are here.
