Good Morning Campers!
I have a few quick announcements and updates for everyone here at Writer’s Camp.
Manuscript Success
Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, the next article in the Manuscript Success series will be posted on Tuesday, May 27 at 7 am. Watch for it!
A Care Package is Coming Your Way!

A new feature will debut on Wednesday, May 28: A Writer’s Camp Care Package! The first Care Package will be “The Cs of Scholarship” by Peggy L. Chinn. This article started its life as a handout for students when Peggy was teaching at the University of Colorado. Then it moved to Advances in Nursing Science where it was published as an editorial in 1999, and then the ANS Blog, where it was republished in 2011. Now, the article is beginning its fourth life here at Writer’s Camp. I am delighted to be able to share this with all of you.
I hope to delve into the archives of other Counselors here at Writer’s Camp, so we can deliver equally exciting Care Packages to you. If you have a lead on a potential Care Package article, let me know!
Thursday Article by Counselor Jacqueline Fawcett
Our regular Thursday article has been written by Jacqueline Fawcett, on the proper use of Which and That. Over the years, I have edited those two words many, many times so I appreciate Jacqui taking it on to write a concise and useful summary.
Welcome Jayne Jennings Dunlap, Senior Counselor!
I am delighted to introduce Jayne Jennings Dunlap, who will be joining our Writer’s Camp leadership team as a Senior Counselor. Jayne is a great writer, PhD learner (embarking on her dissertation journey very soon!), Associate Editor for The Journal for Nurse Practitioners, busy wife and mom, and more. I am delighted she will be sharing her organizational skills and creative mind with all of us here at Writer’s Camp!
Writer’s CAMPOREE!

Join us for our inaugural CAMPOREE on Friday, June 13 at 10 am EDT. This will be a Zoom seminar on exactly what happens to your manuscript when you press SUBMIT and it goes to the editorial office of a journal. Click here to learn more and register. We are asking for registrations so we will know how many campers to expect. There is a space on the registration form for ideas for future CAMPOREE topics–I would like to make this a regular event so please let me know what would be of interest. Registration is free but there is a tip jar if you want to make a donation. The session will be recorded and made available for download here at Writer’s Camp. Stay tuned!
Contact Form
We have a contact form (postcard) here at the site. I heard that some people were having problems sending a message with the form. I have checked and double-checked and everything seems okay. If you try to use it and have a problem, please let me know directly (Leslie@writers-camp.org) and I will follow up. Thanks!
Spread the word and subscribe!
Please spread the word about Writer’s Camp to your friends and colleagues! Encourage them to visit and subscribe. There is no charge to subscribe to the site and if you do, articles and announcements will land in your mailbox as they are posted. There is a subscribe button to the right as well as at the bottom of the page. If anyone would like a “blurb” about Writer’s Camp to share via email or on an intranet, let me know and I will send it right out. Thanks so much for your help!
