Writer’s Camp Bugle #11

Hello Campers!

On a rainy day at camp, what was your usual activity? I remember piling into the main lodge to watch a movie–“The Horse in the Grey Flannel Suit” was a perennial favorite. Well, here at Writer’s Camp we can provide a similar level of entertainment with the CAMPOREE Theater!

About the Theater: I have been recording the CAMPOREES and making them available to watch if you are not able to attend the session in person. Over the weekend, I spent some time revamping the page and options available. The most recent video is displayed at the top–right now it is our session from Friday, October 10th on “Reference Management Software” presented by Vicente from Paperpile. Below that is a “click to open” button which will open our archive of past CAMPOREES. I will update this each month and eventually we should have quite a collection!

In addition, 2 contact hours are available for every video. Watch the video, complete the evaluation, and request CE using the form ($20 fee per video) on the page. A contact hour certificate will be emailed to you directly. NPD credit is approved by the New Jersey State Nurses Association.

November CAMPOREE: The November CAMPOREE will be held on Friday, November 14th at 1 pm – 2 pm. The topic is “Writing a Regular Column in a Journal,” and the presenters are Kathleen Simpson, Marliese Nist, and Samantha Bernstein, all from MCN. Registration is a little bit different–and I hope easier. Go to the Camp Store and select the CAMPOREE. You have a choice to register for free or for $20 if you want to receive contact hours. You will receive a confirmation with the Zoom link for the session. Certificates for CE will be sent after the session, when you complete the evaluation. Sign up now–I am sure this will be a popular CAMPOREE!

Nursing Journals Directory: Writer’s Camp is the home of the Nursing Journals Directory which is a hand-curated list of journals, maintained by a small group of volunteers. Starting about 10 days again, I began a major overhaul and updating of the Directory. This went on in the background and did not affect normal use of the directory. You should notice now, however, that on every entry there is a date when it was updated. I am proud to offer a current and comprehensive directory for everyone’s use here at Writer’s Camp.

Keep your eyes peeled–I am going to have some announcements of Calls for Abstracts for conferences coming up soon. And who knows what other opportunities might pop up! Tell your friends about Writer’s Camp–we always welcome more people to join us at the campfire.

Sending warm thoughts and camp spirit,

Leslie
