Editorial Leadership Intensive (ELI) Journal Systems and Governance

Price range: $1,200.00 through $2,000.00

Live, cohort-based program for editors and editorial leaders examining journals as systems, with emphasis on governance, peer review, and editorial judgment. Four half-day Zoom sessions, May 2026.

Description

The Editorial Leadership Intensive (ELI) is a live, cohort-based program for editors and others working in—or interested in—editorial leadership roles. The program approaches editorial work as a system, focusing on how journals function in practice and how editorial judgment is exercised within real governance structures, resource environments, and publishing contexts.

ELI is designed for participants who already have editorial experience and want to deepen their understanding of the systems that shape scholarly publishing. Rather than focusing on isolated tasks or metrics, the program emphasizes editorial judgment, governance, peer review as infrastructure, and communication with authors and readers.

The course is delivered as four live, half-day Zoom sessions and is led by an experienced faculty of editors-in-chief, senior editors, and managing editors from across nursing and health professions publishing. Sessions combine framing presentations, real-world editorial cases, and guided discussion grounded in lived editorial experience.

This program is well suited for:

  • Editors-in-Chief and Editors

  • Associate, section, and managing editors

  • Editorial board members interested in leadership

  • Peer reviewers interested in editorial leadership

  • Faculty and institutional leaders involved in journal oversight

Dates: May 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2026
Format: Live via Zoom (Eastern Time)
