When the Rejection Letter Arrives: What to Do and Preventing It in the First Place
Every scholar receives rejection letters over the course of their writing career. Some sting. Some confuse. Some make you wonder whether the paper should be abandoned altogether.
But rejection is often a redirection — and knowing how to reposition a manuscript strategically can make the difference between shelving it and submitting it successfully elsewhere.
At our March 13 Camporee, Cindy Saver, MS, RN, will lead a practical session on how to rethink and redo a manuscript for a new journal — without starting over from scratch. Cindy will also discuss tips on how to prevent rejection in the first place: thinking strategically about journal selection and preparing your manuscript appropriately. Cindy is a Writer’s Camp Counselor and author of The Anatomy of Writing for Publication, now in its fifth edition. We are delighted to have her lead this session!
You’ll learn:
- How to evaluate fit for a new journal–whether first submission or after rejection.
- How to reframe your manuscript strategically for a new journal.
- How to move forward with clarity instead of frustration.
- How to minimize the chance of “desk reject.”
The session is free to attend, with an optional $20 CE credit available.
Date: Friday, March 13, 2 pm, EDT.
If you have a manuscript in limbo — or one that came back with a “no” — this Camporee is for you.
