Hello Campers!
Welcome to the Writer’s Camp Bugle, our internal publication for news and announcements. The Bugle will be posted periodically to keep campers (ie, readers) abreast of new developments at the site.
Publicity: After a 2 week “soft launch” I shared information about Writer’s Camp with the International Academy of Nursing Editors (INANE) through their two mailing lists: the one specifically for editors and publishers and the INANE Mentor list, which has a broader audience. There was a very positive response and people have been signing up as subscribers, which is great. There will be a post on Nursology shortly. Please feel free to share information about Writer’s Camp in your personal networks–I want to get the word out to as wide a group of interested people as possible. If you need help with language, let me know. I have a pre-written blurb that you can use.
Authors: Writer’s Camp Counselors are the primary authors for the site, but anyone is welcome to contribute. Please see the Information for Authors for more information. If you have an idea but are not sure if it is appropriate, send me a message and we can discuss.
Learners: I have made the decision that site-wide, at the site and in articles, Writer’s Camp will use the term “learners” rather than students when referring to folks who are in the process of going to school, studying, and perhaps obtaining a degree. I believe the term is more equitable and inclusive and true to the spirit of Florence Nightingale, who admonished all nursologists to be lifelong learners.
Comments: Comments are open on all posts and articles here at Writer’s Camp. I encourage campers and counselors of all types to post comments when something catches your eye or triggers a thought or question. Please be respectful and kind. Critique is fine, but focus on the content, not the person. Personal attacks will not be tolerated and comments of that type will be deleted. My goal is to create a community of supportive, caring people. Please respect that and act accordingly. If you have a different agenda, please go somewhere else to share your ideas. Thanks!
